Corfu
is the second largest Ionian island, and, together with its smaller surrounding satellite islands of Ereikoussa, Mathraki and Othonoi, constitute the northwesternmost part of Greece.
The area of Corfu is around 592.5 square kilometres and about 64 km long.
The unique geographical shape of the island, resembles a sickle. In ancient times it was believed to hide the adamantine sickle that the Titan, Cronus used to castrate his father Uranus, the primordial deity of Ancient Greek mythology.

History
